System 2 Installation / Programming Manual
CAUTION!!!
If you use this System to operate a DC door strike, magnetic lock, relay, or any device that has a coil
(inductive load) that is powered from a DC source, you MUST install a diode, in parallel, across the
coil terminals.
Use a 1N4001, 1N4002 or equivalent diode.
Connect the stripe side of the diode to the coil terminal that becomes positive (+).
Connect the other side of the diode to the other end of the coil.
Proper installation of this diode will prevent the high voltage spike that occurs whenever a coil is de-
energized.
If you do not use this diode, you will eventually damage the system and any other electronic devices
that are attached to it. Corby supplies the necessary diodes with this product, please use them.
